Our blog is dedicated to seasonal living: cooking with local produce (sometimes our own), sewing for the home and searching out vintage bargains.

We believe that most of the pleasure is in the journey - in the making and creating, even if in a simple way.

Now we know it's spring because...

...Gardener's World's back on TV.  I must admit, I'd almost stopped watching it. I never thought in a million years that I'd get bored with the programme, but to me it seemed to lose its way somehow.

But now yeh! We have Monty Don presenting from his own garden...I can see I'll be hooked again.

And I was quite pleased to see I'm not too late with the potatoes.  These are in the conservatory, chitting nicely.  Maybe I'll have a bit of time for digging this weekend.  Hope yours goes well!

  1. I'd given up watching it but enjoyed this one. I'm not a fan of Monty Don or Joe Swift but neither irritated me tonight.
If the series continues like this then I think that most people will be happy with it.
    Happy gardening, Flighty xx

  2. I have been reading your blog for a while now, so I thought I would just say hello and how much I enjoy it.

I'm an avid fan of Gardener's World. Although I'm not that keen on Monty Don, his garden looks very nice.

I also have potatoes chitting in my greenhouse but as I only have very limited space, I grow mine in bags and pots.

  3. First time I have chit potatoes - the shoots are quite long now - can I plant them up now? We had ground frost up until this week.

  4. Hello, from a newbie blogger. I agree totally with your comments about Gardeners World and I'm also back watching it now.

We've planted some spuds and the rest are chitting, now a case of keeping an eye on them and the frost, fleece at the ready!!! just in case.
